PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
ONE BOOTH OPTION
Each gallery is provided with a 20 m² exhibition space, a minimum of three walls, and six 5000K LED tubes. Each gallery may choose a wall color from the available options for their stand.
ONE FEE OPTION
All exhibitors participate under a unified format and pay the same fee of 10,360 USD, with no exceptions. The stand cost includes all taxes, power outlets, standard lighting, cleaning, and inclusion in all communications.
OPTIONAL OFFSITE FEE
The standard fee is USD 960 and includes lighting (up to three spotlights) and venue coordination. Please note that signage, transportation, and installation are the responsibility of each gallery.
CURATORIAL VISION
ONLY SOLO SHOWS
Each exhibitor presents a single artist within their booth. This may take the form of a single work, an installation, or a group of works, provided they all belong to the same artist. This format allows for a more focused and coherent presentation, highlighting the artist’s vision without distraction. It enables collectors and visitors to engage more deeply with the work and to make more informed decisions.
ONLY UNSEEN ARTWORKS
All works must be exhibited for the first time. For active artists, the works must not have been previously shown in galleries, museums, or any public or private context. Exceptionally, for deceased or inactive artists, works of proven historical significance, those that have contributed meaningfully to the development of a region, culture, or artistic movement, may be considered.
ONLY CURATED PRESENTATIONS
We encourage each participating gallery to develop its presentation in close collaboration with a curator. This dialogue is central to the project, ensuring that each booth is conceived not simply as a display, but as a coherent curatorial statement. Each presentation should function as a focused exhibition, with a clearly articulated conceptual framework.
ESTE FOCUS
Each gallery is given a scheduled time and dedicated space for a public talk or presentation, supported by a tailored audio system. When the artist is present, guided visits of the booth are organized during public hours. For galleries, this represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen their narrative and reinforce their positioning.
ESTE OFFSITE
In addition to the solo presentation within the booth, galleries may present a second artist outside the traditional fair space. These special projects are installed within the fair grounds and surrounding areas, and may take the form of performances, outdoor sculptures, or sound-based works.
ESTE ONLINE
Each gallery is required to ensure that all available works are accessible in a high-quality digital format. This includes high-resolution images, detailed descriptions, provenance information, pricing, and relevant documentation. This digital layer expands access and facilitates engagement with collectors, curators, and audiences both onsite and remotely.
ESTE CHARLAS
Our cultural program consists of a series of talks and events featuring leading collectors, artists, gallerists, and curators. Through presentations and conversations, they share their work and research, offering timely and international perspectives on contemporary art.
ESTE PREMIA
ESTE PREMIA brings together a series of awards that recognize artistic excellence, curatorial vision, and contributions to the cultural ecosystem. Through acquisition prizes, philanthropic recognitions, and special distinctions, the program supports artists and galleries while reinforcing ESTE ARTE’s commitment to fostering meaningful engagement, patronage, and long-term impact.
ESTE ARTISTA
An open call for Uruguayan artists and international artists residing in Uruguay, whether independent or represented by a gallery, interested in having their portfolios reviewed by a selection of international curators invited by ESTE ARTE.
SELECTION CRITERIA
CURATORIAL RIGOR
Priority is given to projects that demonstrate clarity of vision, depth of research, and a compelling curatorial voice. Galleries are selected based on proposals that are both intellectually grounded and visually resolved, reflecting strong artistic quality and conceptual coherence. Particular consideration is given to works that meaningfully engage with the past, present, and future of artistic production.
CONTEXTUAL INTELLIGENCE
Each project should articulate the artist’s distinct vision and its resonance within a wider societal and cultural context. Special attention is given to works conceived with Uruguay and the platform's specific conditions in mind. This sensitivity to context strengthens the presentation, fostering deeper engagement and ensuring long-term relevance and sustainability.
EMBODIED EXPERIENCE
Does this work need to be experienced in person, or can it simply be viewed online? Works presented at ESTE ARTE should justify their physical presence, engaging with materiality, scale, spatial relationships, and installation. The emphasis is placed on experiences that can only be fully realized in situ, reinforcing the importance of direct, embodied engagement with the work.
SELECTION COMMITTEE
Proposals will be evaluated by a selection committee composed of six distinguished philanthropists and nationally and internationally renowned collectors.
The committee’s decision will be final and not subject to appeal.
