One of the great luxuries of ESTE ARTE is having the chance to ask: why this material, this form, this scale, this decision? For Mariela Vita, geometry is not a neutral language of order. It can be eccentric, affectionate, unstable—even funny. Her work brings the legacy of Concrete art into contact with Surrealism, modern architecture, design and Japanese visual culture, asking how supposedly rational forms acquire personality, desire and movement. ESTE FOCUS is a moment to look closely, listen carefully, and understand the ideas behind the work, and the process that brought it into being.

CURATORIAL VISION

Mariela Vita constructs environments in which geometry behaves less as an abstract system than as a living structure. Circles, grids, planes of color, and linear elements establish shifting relationships of balance, attraction, and movement. Working with iron, wool, wood, MDF, PVC, cement, paper, polyurethane, and repurposed prefabricated objects, Vita creates material tensions between weight and lightness, rigidity and fragility, austerity and ornament. Her practice draws on Concrete art, Surrealism, modern architecture, design, and Japanese visual culture without treating these references as fixed citations. Humor, affection, and everyday language further destabilize the neutrality associated with geometric form, producing an environment in which material, scale, and perception remain continuously active.
