GALERÍA SUR (Punta del Este)
In Spanish, without translation.
Open to the public.
CURATORIAL VISION
Galería Sur presents a group of large-scale works by Marcelo Legrand developed specifically for ESTE ARTE. The presentation foregrounds the physical intensity of his painting, in which saturated color, expansive marks, layered surfaces, and graphic elements form complex compositions governed by an internal rhythm.
BIO
Marcelo Legrand (b. 1961, Montevideo) is a Uruguayan painter whose practice is defined by sustained experimentation with color, gesture, and material. He studies at the Círculo de Bellas Artes with Héctor Sgarbi and develops techniques involving Chinese ink and heat during a period in Venezuela, followed by projects in Italy, Germany, and the Sahara. His work has been exhibited at the Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, D.C.; Museo Sívori, Buenos Aires; and Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales, Montevideo. Legrand receives Uruguay’s Premio Figari in 2018, and his work is represented in public and private collections internationally.
