MAX GÓMEZ CANLE
Walden Naturae (Pueblo Garzón)
In Spanish, without translation.
Open to the public.
CURATORIAL VISION
Walden Naturae presents works by Max Gómez Canle centered on landscape as a site of memory, imagination, and cultural construction. Drawing on the histories of painting, literature, and natural observation, Gómez Canle creates images in which different temporalities coexist. His landscapes do not describe specific places; they operate as mental territories shaped by historical references, fiction, and contemporary experience. Nature becomes a field of symbolic projection through which the artist examines how inherited images condition our relationship with the environment. The presentation brings together works in which formal precision and imaginative displacement transform landscape from a genre of representation into a space for questioning how nature is seen, remembered, and culturally constructed.
BIO
Max Gómez Canle (b. 1972, Buenos Aires) is a painter whose practice examines landscape through the histories of art, literature, natural observation, memory, and fiction. He appropriates and transforms historical visual languages, placing references from different periods into new relationships that destabilize their original meanings. His solo exhibitions include presentations at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rosario, Museo del Barro in Asunción, and Fundación Klemm. His work is also included in group exhibitions across Latin America, Europe, and North America. With artist María Guerrieri, he develops the collaborative project Amigos del Siglo XX.
